What Is Bare Metal Restore?

In disaster recovery, a bare metal restore is the process of reformatting a computer from scratch after a catastrophic failure. This process involves replacing a workstations hard drive, reinstalling the operating system and software applications and then, restoring data and settings...

For bare metal restores; Drive Cloner Rx has an integrated bootable CD/DVD creator - This enables users and system administrators to restore bare metal systems from a boot CD created by Drive Cloner Rx.  Alternatively, you can create a ISO image for remote storage, and have the bootable CD created on demand.

How Drive Cloner Rx works

Drive Cloner Rx can clone the entire contents of the hard drive or a single partition by copying used hard drive sectors from the source drive to a target drive or partition.

The entire cloning process is performed within Windows and does NOT require the workstation to be rebooted. All Operating system files, personal data and configuration settings will be duplicated on the destination hard drive.

When Drive Cloner Rx generates a full backup image, it copies the used data sectors on the hard disk or partition and saves the data as a ISO image file. This image file can then be copied onto CD-DVD, USB or FireWire hard drive, or onto another physical hard drive attached to your PC.

Drive Cloner Rx can also incrementally update a saved image. By incrementally backing up files, only changed data sectors are backed up. This will reduce the file size of the backup image and and the time it takes to complete the incremental update.
